What Would Lymphocytes Be?

Green Hell again ...

Disappears - Guider

rumbling starts jerking on this record, and you are right in the middle. This sounds like Spacemen 3, Obits slow, with the rawness of No Age, and (besides the worst distortion) guitar harmonies that make you think sometimes almost to the Kings Of Leon. Very epic created the music, the vocals very monotonous, a bit of Happy Mondays, only to Rockist way more shoegaze. The sound is very physically on the second LP of the four men from Chicago, there may well also with Steve Albini live next door, sounds like a fast flying through the vastness of space. Steve Shelley, drummer of Sonic Youth, accompanies the group on the upcoming European tour, which is like knighthood as reference, one considers the new Shelley recently with Michael Rother together under the name of the herb in 2010 Hallogallo Rock Band! re-staged - so often sound like Disappears of repetitive and hypnotic. Even the artwork of Guider, just like its predecessor Lux strongly evokes the minimalism of Neu!. An incredibly deep, dense and layered wall of sound similar to the anticipation of the forthcoming soon on the live experience infinite potentiated by short time to lose the ground under their feet. My first contender for the best record in 2011, and we have just January ...

Gang Of Four - Content

The cover is just as a handle in the toilet, as the current silver artwork by Interpol, floating, pseudo -monolithic. But it's not always shit everything looks like shit, "Content", the first album of the Gang of Four in 15 years, to less successful re-unions in the '90s, the heyday of the quality of the '77-'84 not button could be a surprise then quite nice: it's honest, it was no attempt to link (as indeed their last 1:1 remake of the classic "Entertainment"), truncated to the old formula for success. Where the term "success" of such a politicized rock band probably by "relevance" should be replaced. The sound is complex, added vocals unambitious something, and also politically seem the only two remaining founding members Jon King and Andy Gill slightly flattened. Well, that's the way it goes (?)... The characteristic is Stackato guitar is still there, the whole is a bit more polished Rock (now) as a sexually sweaty punk (then). Certainly more of one of the highlights in the barely endure flood of re-union releases that have so marked the 00s-years, and at least in the case of "content" with a little more hope into the second decade usher after the millennium.

Tu Fawning - Hearts On Hold

"Hearts on Hold," matching plate tracks - the band takes its time is not for the dancefloor , slows the heart rate (even if not as sure of style can be discussed). But Tu Fawning? The name of this quintet opens not, remains elusive - and so it is a little with their music, which is to be understood as a positive quality. Although the songs follow familiar structures, but the nature of the game sometimes unusual, strangely absent. Despite permanent drummer presence must here more talk of ghostly percussion, as of classic Boom Boom Chack, the other instruments, piano, violin and trumpet (do not worry, even electric guitars have a large share of the sound) is often followed by another to its own determination and possibility. Bulky art music, it is still not likely direction of red wine and a fireplace. But not really danceable, that's for sure. The vocal range of the other formations in busy singer Corrina Repp reminiscent Stereo Labs frontwoman Laetitia Saedi, or in the whole of the musical impression of the great Keren Ann, and fans of Leslie Feist here sure their favor. A band that is well on its recently applied to the 20-year jubilant label City Slang place.

My Disco - Little Joy

There seems to be a recipe for something in darkest AGAINST Indie rock, rooted in Manchester in the late 70s and early 80s, of the numerous bands of that time is prepared. Also, My Disco from Australia throw their ingredients in the pot, cook now its third soup. What you have to let them easily in spite of this potential association: the yawning boring 08/15-Abklatsch the post-punk outpourings of many groups of their generation, they have nothing to do, produce wort know where other bands just taste bland. Some ingredients have been mixed in here that makes My Disco and its produced by Steve Albini Album Little Joy tasty. Compared to most other groups of their kind, they are very hesitant, the courage to attack slowness to percussive experiment have discovered. Something for fans of the Liars and Franz Ferdinand as Bloc Party, although the band name is selected then added similar shit ...

Tricky - Mixed Race

solid new album of trip-hop veterans, who proves so confidently for years, that he is not to reduce them to the genre that he Once in the atmosphere of Massive Attack and Portishead created. His voice still has the same tight coolness, yet somehow appealing dangerous. Mixed Race quoting in pop music in recent years and gives the whole a clear personal touch. Back on Domino Records, where he is certainly lifted quite well. Anyone who has dealt not with Tricky does well, to do this once, and as mixed race is a good starting point: it does much Tricky in itself is not necessarily any less hard or, well, how can you say ... psycho (?) remaining as his work, but facing a whole lot much more accessible and listener-friendly. Tricky draws it out of his busy life when he speaks out, where in the wide and deep areas of his songs not at all enough of the distinctive voice of Adrian Thaws occurs. Many nice and surprising guest artists, the label Mixed Race as a cultural heritage of Europe, England exclude as much as possible as the source. The best one forms their own opinions, but I am definitely schonmal fan ..

The Mighty Steff - TMS and The Baptists

Rough Country, often bluesy, boozy total, with Irish roots and feel the exuberant madness of Berlin, where the plate with the specially into the production initiated Baptists was recorded. Sounds like the fall and spent drunken older brother Moneybrother. It was here a lot of drinking, while the songwriting process like in the recordings. Fans of Tom Waits and Nick Cave songs that fit more into the desert or in a seedy saloon, will discover not perhaps their new hero who makes us forget the old, but certainly a plate for enriching your collection. Stefan Murphy, the man behind TMS, here is a group of men gathered around him, know exactly where he wants. What is striking above all is the wide opening of the plate, which is grateful for inspiration from various genres. Incorporated in 2008, was the dirty piece, sounds appeared recently matured as good as a fine old whiskey.

Fujiya & Miyagi - Ventriloquizzing

Dominant electronic based sound, designed large, with sexy male vocals tinged with the spirit of the French from Phoenix, but also on the sense of lingering Molocko and Goldfrapp, and a little like Pulp late, only faster. Sounds like the soundtrack to a film in which the tragic figure of a sacked boxer to the ring tigert not fearful, but rather the time background music, when the soft whipped back is taken up into the cabin. There he sits with his head hanging, along sunk in, and leaves the dark moments of his life pass in review, then get up and try again. To come to think of other things the boxer but fuck tonight still neat, that's for sure. Music with a flourish: broad synthesizer, bass cold tight, grooving drums, with 80 affinity. But what the hell is the name?
